Senior Software Engineer, Globalization (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, WA; hybrid work with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional onsite attendance as required

Starting base salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year

What you will do

• Own complex internationalization engineering projects end to end, clarify requirements, coordinate parallel work, and guide delivery.
• Set the technical roadmap for internationalization engineering and make build-or-buy recommendations for AI-powered translation orchestration and governance.
• Build AI/LLM-powered translation tooling, evaluate models, establish quality guardrails, and integrate automation into production localization pipelines.
• Build and operate translation pipelines and i18n tooling integrated with TMS and CI/CD, including text extraction, locale-specific rendering, and pseudo-locale testing.
• Standardize frontend and backend handling of dates, time, currency, pluralization, and message formatting, including static analysis for defect prevention.
• Expand language coverage through RTL and bidirectional support, transliteration tooling, legacy bug fixes, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience, including hands-on i18n/l10n engineering and leading delivery of complex features.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript experience, including React or React Native, plus a backend language such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python; comparable ecosystems and the ability to learn new stacks are also accepted.
• Production experience applying AI/LLMs, with sound judgment about where automation should and should not replace human review, and experience using AI tools across the development lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of Unicode, ICU/CLDR, locale-aware formatting, and resource file formats.
• Experience building or scaling localization systems and translation pipelines.
• Clear cross-functional communication and the ability to teach teams why i18n matters.

Nice to have

• Production experience shipping RTL or bidirectional language support.
• Experience with localizability audits and pseudo-locale validation.
• Hands-on TMS experience with Lokalise, Phrase, Smartling, or Transifex, and XLIFF experience.
• Fintech, remittance, or other regulated-industry experience.
