Fullstack Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails/React)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA; Little Rock, AR; New York, NY; or Seattle, WA.

Salary: $130,000–$196,500 annual base compensation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Ruby on Rails APIs powering the external Activation API.
• Build React-based interfaces for data activation configuration and management.
• Develop secure, reliable, scalable services and improve API latency, availability, observability, and operational resilience.
• Establish API standards covering resource modeling, versioning, error handling, documentation, and backward compatibility.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and partner teams on full-stack solutions.
• Participate in architecture planning, code reviews, incident response, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement while using AI-powered development tools responsibly.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack software development or API-focused software development.
• Professional experience developing Ruby on Rails applications and APIs.
• Experience building frontend applications with React or a comparable modern JavaScript framework.
• Understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP behavior, authentication, authorization, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Experience writing automated tests and maintaining production-quality software.
• Ability to troubleshoot application and production issues using logs, metrics, traces, and other diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL.
• Ability to collaborate with product, design, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders and communicate technical decisions clearly.
• Commitment to secure, maintainable, accessible, and high-quality software, including appropriate human review of AI-assisted development output.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and operating externally consumed APIs and improving their latency, throughput, scalability, and availability.
• Experience contributing to organization-wide API standards.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, observability platforms, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with complex backend APIs.
• Experience with privacy-sensitive, regulated, or high-volume data.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
• Experience using AI-powered tools for software development, testing, documentation, and operational troubleshooting.
