Associate or Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology & Communication

Location: On-campus in Laredo, Texas, with a regular schedule of attendance and face-to-face interactions in the workplace.

What you will do

• Lead the Department of Psychology & Communication as a tenured 12-month Associate or Full Professor with a reduced teaching load.
• Support and evaluate faculty excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
• Assess, revise, innovate, and modernize curricula; coordinate course scheduling and oversee faculty recruitment, hiring, credentialing, and evaluation.
• Manage the department budget and develop partnerships across the university and community.
• Support students and recruitment and retention initiatives while representing the department in institutional strategic planning.
• Help develop the proposed PhD in Counseling Psychology and grow the Communication program at the Texas A&M-RELLIS campus.

Requirements

• Doctorate in psychology, communication, or a closely related discipline aligned with the department.
• Record of research and publications.
• Teaching experience commensurate with the academic rank.
• At least 5 years of full-time faculty experience.
• Experience in faculty management.

Nice to have

• Strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship.
• Demonstrated success securing and managing external funding for infrastructure, instruments, programs, or research.
• Administrative and supervisory experience as a program coordinator, program director, or division/department chair.
