Senior Data Platform Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Own the performance, reliability, monitoring, and alerting of distributed systems, storage, and processing platforms under real market load.
• Design and maintain platform capabilities including self-provisioned compute, scheduling, transformations, and ad-hoc data exploration.
• Make architectural decisions covering data modelling, storage formats, processing patterns, latency, cost, consistency, and maintainability.
• Investigate data issues and pipeline failures, improve resource usage, and develop operational tooling and runbooks.
• Build governance and context capabilities such as data cataloguing, lineage, access control, metadata management, and configurable data quality rules.
• Use coding agents for design, implementation, testing, and review while mentoring engineers and owning the correctness of shipped code.

Requirements

• 8+ years building and operating multiple production data platforms across different domains, including the ability to explain past mistakes and improvements.
• Fundamentals-based understanding of storage layouts, query execution, networking, and distributed-systems behaviour.
• Ability to evaluate and defend trade-offs between latency, cost, consistency, and simplicity with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong data modelling and data warehousing experience, including analytical engines such as BigQuery or ClickHouse.
• Extensive hands-on experience with distributed storage, messaging such as Kafka or Pub/Sub, batch and stream processing such as Apache Beam or Spark, and container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java, with high standards for testing and code quality.
• Solid cloud experience across storage, databases such as AlloyDB, and data processing, preferably with GCP and AWS.
• Practical experience with data governance, including ownership, lineage, access control, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
• Understanding of how AI systems consume data through retrieval, semantic layers, tool interfaces, and agent interfaces, and how to make data reliable context for them.
• Ability to translate ambiguous internal-user needs into clear platform capabilities, communicate across technical and non-technical teams, and help others grow.

• Interest in financial markets; prior trading experience is not required.
