Senior Data Engineer (Scala)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid.

What you will do

• Build, secure, and manage reliable data pipelines and data flows from multiple internal and external sources.
• Integrate data into cloud-based platforms that support analytics and operational tools, while ensuring platform scalability.
• Manage active data integrations across airline operations, fleet maintenance, and e-commerce systems.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product owners, and business analysts on data-driven aviation projects.
• Maintain the data infrastructure supporting predictive maintenance models, disruption decision-support systems, and applications that reduce operational waste.

Requirements

• Around 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with Scala and functional programming.
• Knowledge of open-source technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or Kubernetes.
• Experience working with varied data types, formats, and velocities, and scaling systems from a single machine to distributed environments.
• Customer-focused, results-driven, proactive, and comfortable taking on challenging tasks.
