Senior Engineering Manager (Data & AI)

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working with 40% office, 40% home, and 20% flexible work. With manager approval, working abroad is permitted within approved countries for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.

Salary: Gross annual salary of €112,000–€180,000, including FlexBudget and an 8% holiday allowance; a bonus or collective profit sharing may apply depending on the role.

What you will do

• Set the engineering vision and direction in line with hirify.global’s Data & AI strategy.
• Lead and develop engineering managers, data engineering leads, and delivery teams across data, ML, analytics, and AI.
• Establish standardized, automated DataOps practices and lead the adoption of agentic AI to automate repetitive and error-prone data work.
• Build high-performing engineering communities through coaching, mentoring, feedback, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
• Define hiring strategies, workforce needs, roles, and recruitment processes with Talent Acquisition and engineering leaders.
• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to deliver data products, insights, forecasts, predictions, and optimizations.

Requirements

• Strong experience leading multiple data engineering or ML teams in an enterprise setting.
• Extensive experience in a senior engineering leadership role within data, AI, and technology platforms.
• Proven experience delivering data engineering and ML solutions and aligning technical work with business goals.
• Fluency with agentic ways of working and a strong ambition to automate repetitive, error-prone data work.
• Strong expertise in data engineering, including modern enterprise data management, data integration, and distributed data processing.
• Solid engineering experience spanning architecture, development, and data operations.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, balance competing priorities, adapt to different situations, coach people, develop talent, and build an inclusive engineering culture.
• Affinity with hirify.global’s mission to accelerate the energy transition.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ML engineering, AI systems, and agentic AI model lifecycles.
• Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure.
