Data Engineer Consultant (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands. A work permit cannot be provided, and non-Dutch speakers will not be accepted.

What you will do

• Work on varied client projects and build hirify.global's AI solutions with the French Data Engineering team.
• Design and operate cloud architectures across GCP, AWS, and Azure, including storage, compute, cost optimisation, role management, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Containerise and orchestrate applications with Docker and Kubernetes, including Kubernetes clusters adapted to Data Science workloads.
• Develop Python server-side tools such as bulk data processing utilities, REST API servers, and authentication services.
• Manage CI/CD integration and deployment of applications, internal platforms, and client Data Science projects.
• Build ETL scripts in Big Data environments and implement infrastructure and services for machine learning model development and delivery.

Requirements

• Master's Degree with a strong quantitative component, such as Econometrics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in Data, DevOps, Cloud, or Software Engineering.
• Good Python skills, a solid foundation in other programming languages, and familiarity with at least one SQL DBMS, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud platform—GCP, AWS, or Azure—or a strong appetite to learn cloud services.
• Comfort using Docker and automating CI/CD pipelines, with a strong appetite to gain competence in Kubernetes if necessary.
• Ability to work in a DevOps culture and take responsibility for the code lifecycle from development through deployment and maintenance; familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools is required, ideally Terraform.
• Experience implementing application protection solutions, including certificate management, HTTPS security, OAuth2 authentication, and credential management.
• Strong interest in data and AI-related topics, ability to quickly build expertise, and willingness to help clients use these opportunities.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, plus excellent written and verbal English and Dutch.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB.
• Experience mixing multiple services within the same cloud project.
• Existing Kubernetes experience.
• Mastery of the GitLab-CE ecosystem.
