Category Manager (Chemicals)

hirify.global operates in the chemicals industry and requires strategic category management across sourcing, suppliers, contracts, and procurement initiatives.

What you will do

• Own assigned chemical categories end-to-end, monitoring market drivers, industry trends, supply dynamics, competition, spend, demand, and market intelligence.
• Develop cost models, forecasting frameworks, category strategies, and RFP award scenarios that balance total cost of ownership, supply continuity, innovation, resilience, and risk.
• Provide strategic recommendations on supplier portfolios, volume allocation, new supplier introduction, insourcing, and make-versus-buy decisions.
• Build and manage preferred supplier networks, including supplier identification, qualification, onboarding, transactions, collaboration, and diversification.
• Lead commercial negotiations and contract strategy covering pricing, payment terms, volume commitments, performance metrics, and risk management.
• Collaborate with commercial, operations, supply chain, technical, and global procurement teams while communicating strategy, progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of sourcing experience or equivalent technical experience; product management, R&D, process technology, or production experience is preferred.
• Required BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or an equivalent field; MBA, MS, or MSE is preferred.
• High proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Additional language proficiency is beneficial.
• Knowledge of contract and pricing terms and conditions.
• Strong written, oral, professional, and technical communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts and recommendations to peers, leadership, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to learn quickly, manage change in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, multitask, follow through, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong influence, decision-making, problem-solving, organization, project management, facilitation, and results-oriented execution skills.
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships and work effectively in a geographically distributed organization.
• Excellent MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and other advanced functions.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the North American chemicals market.
• Working knowledge of SAP.
