Mid-Level Power BI Developer (SQL, DAX & Power Query)

Location: Full-time onsite work at hirify.global's office in Fairfax, Virginia; remote work is not available. Must be a U.S. citizen and must not hold dual citizenship with another country.

What you will do

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, metrics, visualizations, and data models.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, DAX measures, calculated columns, Power Query transformations, ETL pipelines, and data connectors.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into secure, reliable, high-performing reporting and analytics solutions.
• Integrate Power BI with databases, files, applications, and enterprise data sources; validate data accuracy and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Publish and maintain reports in Power BI Service, including workspace management, scheduled refreshes, access controls, and row-level security.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders across solution design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and production support.

Requirements

• 7+ years of overall IT, data, analytics, application development, or business intelligence experience, including 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, DAX, and Power Query.
• Experience developing interactive dashboards, reports, visualizations, metrics, and data models.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, data relationships, and business intelligence concepts.
• Experience with ETL, data transformation, data preparation, pipelines, connectors, and integration with multiple databases and enterprise data sources.
• Experience with Power BI Service, performance optimization, scheduled refreshes, troubleshooting, and data validation.
• Knowledge of data security, access controls, and row-level security.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical and analytics solutions, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and data-quality skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and must not hold dual citizenship with another country; must meet applicable federal personnel security and onboarding requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal government, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint Online, AWS, Python, GitHub, JIRA, ServiceNow, or DBeaver.
• Experience with source control, software development lifecycle practices, enterprise-scale business intelligence, reporting, data analytics, or automation solutions.
• Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements and federal information security, privacy, data governance, or compliance requirements.
