Software Development Engineer III (Maps API)

hirify.global provides real-time location technology, including maps, data, SDKs, APIs, and navigation tools for location-aware businesses.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering team in identifying and scoping tasks, then deliver high-quality work on schedule.
• Design systems and make architectural decisions for rapidly growing customer and request volumes.
• Build and deploy mapping tools, backend services, microservices, and distributed ETL pipelines.
• Diagnose complex system behavior, optimize application performance, and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers through 1:1s, design and code reviews, pairing, documentation, and technical guidance.
• Test and monitor systems, support continuous delivery, and participate in on-call operations.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services.
• Proficiency with Python, NodeJS, and native AWS services including CDK, ECS, Step Functions, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and CloudFront.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Experience building mapping and geospatial products.
• Familiarity with code versioning tools such as GitHub.
• Ability to independently perform development tasks from designs and specifications.
• Analytical, empirical, self-starting, communication- and outcomes-oriented approach, including developing hypotheses, conducting spikes, and communicating findings.
• Commitment to documentation, mentorship, pairing, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and working with people from diverse backgrounds.
• High-quality mindset, including unit testing, proactive defect remediation, and follow-through to production.
