Backend Software Engineer III, Metadata Core (Java)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; hybrid work with attendance at the assigned office at least 3 days per week, focused on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable services for the next-generation Metadata Platform, focusing on reliability, observability, operability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with partner teams and domain architects on system design and service integration.
• Help define the platform vision and assemble feature roadmaps.
• Work with Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, and Istio.
• Strengthen engineering processes, principles, and culture through learning, continuous improvement, and blameless retrospectives.
• Use AI to support faster and smarter engineering decisions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience designing and developing APIs.
• Passion for new technologies and the ability to implement them in existing products.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Scala, or PHP.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience with message queues or streaming data systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure.
• Experience deploying and operating microservices on Kubernetes.
