Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; Remote

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python backend applications, services, and production-grade software.
• Build end-to-end solutions leveraging Databricks, including application components, integrations, and backend services.
• Design REST APIs and integrate backend systems with external services.
• Develop cloud-based solutions primarily on AWS and contribute to architecture, implementation, deployment, testing, and technical planning.
• Contribute to frontend development when required and collaborate with international cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Use AI-powered development tools, automation, prototyping, code reviews, and performance optimization to improve delivery and software quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of commercial experience in Python backend development, including strong expertise in designing and building production-grade applications.
• Senior-level software engineering skills and the ability to independently design, develop, and deliver complex technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, distributed systems, and software design principles.
• Experience with cloud-based application development, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, clean code principles, software engineering best practices, CI/CD processes, version control systems, and modern development practices.
• Willingness to work with frontend technologies and contribute to frontend development when required.
• An AI-first mindset and openness to AI-assisted development tools, automation, and emerging technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills, independence, a solution-oriented approach, and ownership of technical decisions considering scalability, performance, maintainability, and business requirements.
• Advanced English communication skills, written and spoken, for collaboration with international clients and teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Databricks and its capabilities.
• Frontend development experience with React, Vue.js, Angular, or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or other AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience in banking, fintech, or financial services.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Experience with AI agents, agentic coding workflows, or AI-powered development automation.
• Experience designing technical solutions from scratch or contributing to architectural decisions.
