Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote-first; must live anywhere in Brazil, with an option to work from the São Paulo office. Work From Anywhere is available from any country for up to 90 days per year.

What you will do

• Drive technical execution and solve high-impact distribution problems.
• Design highly scalable and resilient systems for low-latency conversational journeys.
• Build systems supporting heavy microservices orchestration and real-time ML processing.
• Apply engineering judgment to analyze trade-offs involving simplicity, flexibility, velocity, reliability, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Remove collaboration barriers, conduct difficult structural conversations, and foster an inclusive engineering culture.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, including leading delivery of high-volume, high-concurrency, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of modern software architecture, distributed data consistency, fault tolerance, and system optimization.
• Understanding of data-intensive applications and readiness to build architectures supporting Machine Learning and AI features at scale.
• Proven ability to analyze and clearly articulate engineering trade-offs.
• Demonstrated ability to improve collaboration and foster an inclusive engineering culture.
• Fluent Portuguese and excellent English are mandatory.

Nice to have

• Experience designing architectures integrating LLMs, multi-agent AI systems, or heavy data pipelines.
• Strong FinOps and cost-optimization experience in high-throughput cloud environments.
• Experience migrating legacy monoliths to highly decoupled, event-driven architectures.
