Senior Software Engineer (Agentic) (AI)

What you will do

• Own backend services in Python and TypeScript from ambiguous problem definition through production operation, working with product managers and data scientists.
• Build and operate durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems where AI agents run inside deterministic workflows, including failure modes, replay semantics, and cost controls.
• Implement tracing and auditability for model calls and agent steps so recommendations can be reconstructed and cited to their sources.
• Model and manage claims automation data across relational, document, and graph databases while maintaining security and tenant isolation.
• Author cross-team design documents, review designs and code, mentor engineers, and participate in a shared on-call rotation.
• Improve the use of agentic coding tools through specifications, instruction files, hooks, permission policies, and rigorous review of generated code.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing, shipping to customers, and operating an event-driven system in production.
• Python and TypeScript expertise sufficient to establish team conventions, plus experience with a systems language such as Rust, Go, Java, or C#.
• Strong computer science and distributed-systems fundamentals, including concurrency, consistency, ordering, and failure handling.
• Experience with broker-based event-driven systems such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Service Bus that handle duplicate, late, and failed events without losing or double-processing work.
• Experience modeling and developing across relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including partition-key, consistency, and tenant-isolation decisions.
• Experience architecting and operating systems on Azure or AWS, with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and hands-on use of a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or Durable Task Scheduler.
• Daily production use of Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or a similar agentic coding tool, with a clear account of constraining context, verifying output, and reverting changes when necessary.
• Authored technical design documents for systems spanning multiple teams and used them to obtain feedback and buy-in before implementation.
• Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including eliciting customer problems and explaining trade-offs.

Nice to have

• React and TypeScript experience for full-stack features, especially chat, streaming, and citation-heavy AI experiences.
• Formal methods or fault-injection testing, such as Lean, TLA+, or deterministic simulation.
• Performance work below the application layer, including profiling, memory, and concurrency tuning.
• Experience with MCP, A2A, command-line tools, and microservices used by AI agents to access tools and enterprise systems.
• Experience in insurance, claims, or automotive repair.
