Senior Software Engineer (AI Applications)

Location: Remote-first; remote work may be occasional or permanent. A reliable cable or fiber-optic broadband connection with minimum speeds of 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required for remote work.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy generative AI agents with persistent memory, shared state management, and complex multi-step reasoning workflows for educational applications.
• Develop AI-enabled web-based educational software and integrate generative AI capabilities into existing platforms.
• Use large language models and multimodal models to deliver context-aware user experiences while optimizing performance and maintaining safety compliance.
• Establish agent evaluation frameworks covering testing, safety assessment, and performance monitoring.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate user needs and learning workflows into scalable, production-ready agentic capabilities.
• Provide technical mentorship on agent design, LLM integration, and secure autonomous systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Senior or Staff-level capacity leading significant technical initiatives.
• Hands-on experience building complex agentic systems, including tool calling, advanced prompt optimization, and context engineering.
• Practical experience integrating LLMs, with strong prompt engineering skills and experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines.
• Strong expertise in at least two of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#.
• Experience deploying and managing systems on at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure, using containerization and robust observability tooling.
• Experience building and deploying high-throughput full-stack solutions, including backend services and APIs that integrate with AI models and orchestrate complex workflows.
• Familiarity with vector databases and embedding models.
• Experience designing secure systems that can safely handle untrusted code execution or complex user-generated content.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive technical initiatives autonomously from prototype through high-scale production.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI agent evaluation frameworks.
• Familiarity with scalable inference pipelines.
• Familiarity with open tool protocols such as MCP and A2A, as well as browser automation.
• Previous experience in EdTech.
• Familiarity with AWS Bedrock and Strands Agents.
