Senior Power Systems Engineer

Location: Brisbane, Australia; permanent working rights in Australia required. The role combines office-based design work with hands-on site involvement.

Salary: AUD 14,000–160,000 per annum

hirify.global is hiring for a permanent power systems engineering role supporting industrial, mining, and utility projects.

What you will do

• Interpret client requirements and prepare design documents, drawings, scopes of work, risk assessments, equipment specifications, reports, and proposals.
• Investigate, study, and analyze industrial, mining, and utility power systems.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and small project teams.
• Perform data collection, equipment configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning on site.
• Collaborate with clients, suppliers, contractors, management, and other engineering disciplines from concept through commissioning.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and extensive experience with industrial power systems.
• Strong design skills and practical field experience, including preparation of drawings, specifications, reports, and scopes of work.
• Proven ability to communicate with clients, management, peers, other disciplines, suppliers, and installation contractors.
• Ability to manage small project teams and work unsupervised.
• Current or prospective RPEQ registration.
• Preference for engineers with 5 years of proven experience in power system analysis and design.
• Permanent working rights in Australia.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Significant PTW and/or ETAP experience.
• Experience designing industrial HV networks and associated protection systems.
• Experience designing earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Experience across a variety of heavy industries.
• Client-focused approach and strong communication skills.
