Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC; all applicants must currently reside in the United States.

Salary: USD $119,441–$191,106 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the design, construction, operation, and security of Kubernetes and other container platforms for classified environments.
• Advance DevOps/DevSecOps maturity by automating builds, testing, deployments, observability, and releases across multiple environments.
• Develop and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, resolve root causes, and improve reliability and performance.
• Implement secure configuration, policy-as-code, runtime security, change management, and auditable governance processes.
• Advise on cloud platform architecture, technology choices, capacity planning, and operational procedures using AWS and/or Azure.
• Mentor engineers, establish runbooks, lead incident response and postmortems, and collaborate with platform, network, security, SRE, and application teams.

Requirements

• Current TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of professional DevOps experience, or a Master’s degree plus 8+ years of experience.
• At least 3 years of documented IT change-management experience is mandatory.
• 8+ years advancing DevOps/DevSecOps maturity through automation of builds, regression testing, monitoring, and automated releases.
• 8+ years diagnosing and resolving CI/CD pipeline failures, performance issues, and operational slowness.
• Experience developing, managing, and securing containerized solutions with Kubernetes, Docker, or similar technologies.
• Experience delivering enterprise cloud-native solutions with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience mentoring or supervising engineering or operations team members.
• Strong Python and Bash/shell scripting skills, plus experience with configuration management, infrastructure as code, and Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or comparable pipeline tooling.

Nice to have

• Deep Kubernetes platform engineering experience with operators, CRDs, Operators Framework, Helm, and Kustomize.
• Experience with Istio or Linkerd, runtime security tools such as Falco, Aqua, or Prisma Cloud, and policy engines such as OPA/Gatekeeper.
• Experience with container registry hardening, image scanning, SBOMs, supply-chain protection, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, and distributed tracing.
• Experience delivering platforms in constrained, secure, SCIF, or classified environments.
• Experience with GitOps, ArgoCD, advanced cloud-native automation, and IT program management.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
