Cloud Engineer - Senior BDVA 1676 (Cybersecurity)

Location: Reston, VA, US. US citizenship is required; Secret or higher security clearance is required.

Salary: $113,000–$171,000 annually.

What you will do

• Research, design, develop, and deploy cloud infrastructure, applications, services, and automation scripts.
• Engineer and integrate mission-essential applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Monitor and optimize cloud systems, backend infrastructure, applications, data pipelines, computing resources, and storage for high availability and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement encryption, access controls, audits, and other cloud security measures to support compliance.
• Support DevSecOps evolution and establish CI/CD processes for new and upgraded applications.
• Communicate system issues, contribute to architecture and design reviews, research new technologies, and collaborate across project teams.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Computer Scientist, Software Developer, or in a related field; a bachelor's or master's degree is required, although experience may substitute for the education requirement.
• US citizenship and Secret or higher security clearance are required.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with experience designing, developing, and managing cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Programming experience with languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
• Experience optimizing and load-balancing backend infrastructure and applications supporting network-traffic ingestion and analysis.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, cloud security best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience with Agile delivery models such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, and with a DevSecOps framework.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to work independently and with a teleworking team using virtual development, test, and stable environments.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of cyber operations, cyber defense strategies and tools, malware, networks, network-traffic data, and virtual environments.
• Experience with network-traffic inspection tools such as Suricata, Arkime, or Zeek.
• Knowledge of big-data technologies such as Elasticsearch, Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
• Cloud engineering certifications, including AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Azure Fundamentals, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, CCSK, Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Developer, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or CompTIA Cloud+.
