DevOps Engineer (Hybrid) (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, averaging 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office; onsite frequency and locations may vary based on customer/company support requirements and contract needs. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $115,199–$150,000 annually.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS, as well as on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Automate deployment processes and manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure.
• Ensure service reliability, scalability, high availability, and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve complex operational issues.
• Continuously improve infrastructure processes, tools, and technology adoption.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
• 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master's degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms and AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications, containers, and operating systems.
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go; familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Comfort working in a terminal-based environment and proficient Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, or willingness to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, averaging 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office, with flexibility for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI-level clearance.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with K9s, AWS CLI, SNS, SQS, Diode, and other AWS services.
