Java Developer (AI/Cloud)

Location: Mostly remote; candidates must be local to the DC/MD/VA area or Eagan, MN. US citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot Java enterprise applications, services, and software frameworks.
• Build cloud-native applications using microservices, containerization, APIs, and event-driven components.
• Deploy applications in AWS ECS, EKS, OpenShift, or similar cloud environments.
• Collaborate with cloud system owners, DevSecOps engineers, and testing teams on releases, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployments.
• Implement secure coding aligned with FISMA High, remediate vulnerabilities using SAST/SCA and dependency management, and improve application performance.
• Develop and integrate AI/ML capabilities, including AI-driven test-script generation and Java-based solutions for flight-services automation.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Java development experience; the role supports mid-level, senior, and lead engineers.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications, microservices, and APIs.
• Experience with AWS ECS, EKS, or OpenShift.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, secure coding, and automated testing.
• Experience developing or integrating AI/ML capabilities into software applications and with AI-driven test automation or test-script generation.
• Knowledge of FISMA High security requirements and application vulnerability remediation.
• US citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• BA education and 8 years of experience are listed for the contract role.

Nice to have

• Additional programming experience with Python or Go.
• Experience supporting FAA, DOT, or other federal government programs.
• Experience with flight-services automation or aviation-related applications.
