Senior / Lead Systems Engineer (AWS Cloud Architecture)

Location: Mostly remote; candidates must be local to the DC/MD/VA area or Eagan, MN. US citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

What you will do

• Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures migrating on-premises environments to AWS GovCloud.
• Develop hardware, software, and network architectures across AWS VPCs, GovCloud, and multi-cluster environments.
• Evaluate AWS ECS, EKS, OpenShift, and similar container platforms, including cost analysis and infrastructure sizing.
• Lead systems integration, verification and validation, and production deployments.
• Design secure networks with trust boundaries, segmentation, and access controls.
• Support FISMA High requirements, SSP documentation, ATO processes, and collaboration with DevSecOps, software development, and testing teams.

Requirements

• Strong systems engineering and AWS cloud architecture experience.
• Experience designing hybrid cloud environments and supporting cloud migrations.
• Experience with AWS ECS, EKS, OpenShift, or similar container platforms.
• Knowledge of AWS networking, including VPCs, ALB, WAF, PrivateLink, and ingress routing.
• Experience with systems integration, V&V, infrastructure sizing, and deployment.
• Understanding of FISMA High security requirements, SSPs, and ATO processes.
• Experience with secure network design and segmentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting FAA, DOT, or other federal programs.
• AWS GovCloud migration experience.
• Familiarity with Zscaler, PIV authentication, and FAA/NTC environments.
• Experience with DevSecOps and AI-driven test automation.
