Cloud Platform Engineer (Azure/AWS)

Location: Remote from Virginia, United States; US citizenship required and ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance.

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, consult on, implement, modernize, and support complex Azure and AWS GovCloud solutions for a government multi-cloud environment with 50+ customer tenants.
• Develop proofs of concept and MVPs using Azure and AWS services to address current challenges.
• Establish cloud architecture standards, best practices, security guidelines, and migration approaches.
• Provision and manage cloud services, configure monitoring, and build GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated application and infrastructure deployments.
• Implement secure, scalable, highly available cloud architectures aligned with ATO, NIST, and FedRAMP requirements, including identity and access management, network security, and encryption.
• Assess risks, address vulnerabilities, optimize performance and cost, and lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex issues.

Requirements

• US citizenship and ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related cloud engineering experience.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure GovCloud and Amazon Web Services GovCloud environments and solutions.
• Expertise in leading and collaborating with technical teams with diverse IT skill sets.
• Highly developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for professional interaction with diverse stakeholders.
• Active Azure or AWS certification.

Nice to have

• Federal consulting experience supporting DHS or other federal agencies.
• Understanding of AI/ML operations and the development-to-field lifecycle.
• Experience working as part of an Agile team using Scrum or Kanban.
• Hands-on knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
