Principal Software Engineer (Java)

Salary: $255,653–$286,000 per year, plus annual or quarterly performance incentives.

What you will do

• Drive the design, development, and deployment of complex distributed enterprise applications using Java.
• Architect scalable, secure, low-latency, and high-scale event-driven systems.
• Design and develop backend and UI components, RESTful web services, and service contracts using Swagger and OpenAPI.
• Build and maintain technical architecture, coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and DevOps teams on scope, milestones, and technical roadmaps.
• Provide technical direction, lead design discussions, mentor engineers, and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology Management, or a related area, plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience; or a bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of these areas, plus 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Experience defining REST web-service microservice contracts using Swagger and OpenAPI.
• Experience designing and implementing web-service applications with Java, JSON, REST, and Spring Framework, and constructing scalable distributed enterprise applications with Java.
• Experience building and deploying applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing event-driven microservices using asynchronous Kafka technology.
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipeline automation with Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
• Experience designing table schemas for SQL databases, including Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Splunk and Grafana for production logging and monitoring.
• Experience developing and executing JUnit tests for application quality, performance, and scalability. The employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
