Software Developer – Identity & Access Management (IAM/Java)

Location: Hybrid in Tysons Corner, VA, with onsite work required 3 days per week. U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.

Estimated salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually; actual compensation may vary based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.

What you will do

• Plan, design, and prototype secure user authentication mechanisms for web-based applications.
• Implement a robust multi-factor authentication solution using a customer-preferred identity provider.
• Develop and integrate authentication workflows and single sign-on capabilities.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, Development Lead, and cross-functional team members.
• Deliver software in an Agile Scrum or Kanban environment using Jira.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field plus 5 or more years of relevant Enterprise IT experience, or 7 or more years of relevant Enterprise IT experience without a bachelor’s degree.
• Multi-year application development proficiency in one or more of JavaScript/TypeScript with Node, React, or Angular, or Java with Spring Boot.
• Strong Java development experience.
• Experience with identity and access management and single sign-on, preferably with Microsoft Entra ID.
• Project experience developing and integrating user authentication workflows with web-based applications, such as Spring Security.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and collaboration skills.
• Experience delivering software using Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology through Jira.

Nice to have

• Knowledge and implementation experience with MFA solutions and identity providers including AWS Cognito, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Login.gov.
• Knowledge and management of AWS GovCloud services, preferably Cognito, Lambda, S3, EC2, and API Gateway.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, containerized environments, and version control using Jenkins or a similar tool.
• Understanding of tokens, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with phishing-resistant MFA protocols, PIV/CAC integration, or authentication standards.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs, password policies, and account recovery flows.
• AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect.
