Senior Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Colombia; occasional visits to a hirify.global office may be required for team events or meetings.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and operate production-ready AI agents and services using Node.js, LLMs such as OpenAI or Anthropic, and modern cloud technologies.
• Drive architecture and technical design for scalable, reliable, and maintainable AI-powered systems serving hundreds to thousands of customers.
• Own end-to-end delivery of backend services, APIs, AI orchestration workflows, and production operations.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Business Analytics, and Engineering teams to shape technical direction and customer experiences.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing while improving engineering and operational standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating scalable distributed systems and full-stack applications.
• Strong backend development expertise with Node.js, Python, Go, or similar technologies, plus a deep understanding of software design principles.
• Experience leading technical initiatives from architecture and design through deployment and production support.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms, including infrastructure design, monitoring, reliability, and scaling.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, API design, event-driven architectures, databases, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.

Nice to have

• Experience building and operating AI-powered applications with LLMs, AI frameworks, and production-grade AI infrastructure.
• Familiarity with agentic AI patterns, including RAG, tool calling, prompt orchestration, memory management, and structured output validation.
• Experience with vector databases and semantic search technologies such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms.
• Strong frontend development experience with React, Next.js, or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience mentoring engineers, influencing technical roadmaps, and driving adoption of engineering and AI best practices across teams.
