Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, TX; hybrid on-site with up to 20% travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Build scalable backend APIs and microservices in Python and C++ using event-driven architectures for real-time mission orchestration.
• Design telemetry, sensor-feed, and mission-data pipelines using publish/subscribe patterns, message queues, and data transformation services.
• Develop React-based operator interfaces for mission planning, fleet coordination, and system monitoring.
• Implement WebSocket communications, role-based access controls, authentication, and multi-user mission control capabilities.
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries for high-throughput operational data.
• Integrate autonomous platforms through RESTful APIs, ROS2 topics, message queues, and collaboration with autonomy engineers; support testing, monitoring, and deployment automation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience building production systems.
• Strong C++ proficiency, including systems programming, multithreading, and performance optimization.
• Expert-level Python skills with FastAPI, Flask, or Django experience.
• Experience with ROS2 middleware, including topics, services, and distributed robotics systems.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and React with modern development practices.
• Strong database design and optimization skills with PostgreSQL and NoSQL systems.
• Experience building real-time applications with WebSockets, message queuing, and event-driven data streaming.
• Knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices, event-driven patterns, Linux system programming, and multithreaded application development.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required; export-control eligibility must also apply.

Nice to have

• C++ multithreaded systems, gRPC/Protobuf, and database design or tuning.
• Robotics middleware beyond ROS2, such as DDS, MQTT, or custom protocols.
• Autonomous vehicle systems and data formats, including UAVs, USVs, and UUVs.
• Kafka, Redis Streams, ZeroMQ, OpenCV, PCL, Docker, AWS, Grafana, Prometheus, or application performance monitoring.
• Networking, distributed systems, geospatial data handling, coordinate transformations, or mission-critical and real-time system development.
• Previous experience in defense, aerospace, or autonomous systems industries.
