Manager I, Environmental Health & Safety / Facilities

Location: Billerica, Massachusetts, United States; onsite at the Billerica facility. No relocation and no visa sponsorship.

Salary: $130,000–$155,000 per year.

hirify.global develops photonic technologies for biomedical, semiconductor, industrial, scientific, security, defense, aerospace, and other markets. The Billerica facility designs and manufactures MEMS-based swept-laser engines, micro-scale optical devices, and regulated high-voltage power supplies.

What you will do

• Lead the site EHS and facilities team and contracted service providers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and development.
• Develop and improve safety programs covering high-voltage electrical safety, laser safety, machine guarding, hazardous materials, PPE, and lockout/tagout; investigate incidents and corrective actions.
• Manage OSHA, EPA, and Massachusetts environmental and workplace safety compliance, including hazardous waste, permits, chemical storage, and regulatory reporting.
• Own facilities operations, building systems, cleanroom environments where applicable, preventive maintenance, space planning, vendors, contractors, and facility-related capital projects.
• Maintain emergency response, crisis management, business continuity, physical security, access control, badging, and visitor management programs.
• Support EHS management systems and audits, deliver safety training, and partner with site leadership, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, HR, and Quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive EHS and/or facilities management experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 3 years in people management or team leadership.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Massachusetts environmental and workplace safety regulations, hazardous materials and waste management, and environmental permitting.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
• Demonstrated experience developing emergency response and business continuity plans.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without direct authority, and communicate with site leadership and regulatory agencies.
• Must be a US Person.

Nice to have

• CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification.
• Experience with high-voltage electrical safety and/or laser safety programs.
• Experience in electronics, photonics, or precision manufacturing environments.
