Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid

Salary: HUF 1.4M–HUF 1.8M per month

What you will do

• Develop backend-focused web applications using Node, Java, or Kotlin, depending on the service.
• Own the full development lifecycle, including technical design, code reviews, testing, internal demos, production deployment, and production issue resolution.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automated test coverage when needed.
• Use AI tools, mainly Claude, to improve efficiency while retaining full ownership of delivered code and solutions.
• Collaborate within a high-speed, high-ownership engineering team.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience working as a developer in software development teams and developing web applications.
• Ability to technically design small software changes, such as adding a feature to a web application.
• Good knowledge of at least one of Node, Java, or Kotlin, along with backend development best practices.
• Good knowledge of at least one of MongoDB or SQL/Postgres.
• Basic knowledge of web application frontend development and cloud infrastructure.
• Willingness to occasionally work on frontend development using React and TypeScript.
• Comfortable using any leading AI solution for software development.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Competence in web application frontend development or cloud infrastructure, including AWS.
