Staff Backend Engineer (.Net C#)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid work arrangement.

What you will do

• Design and implement core runtime services powering platform execution, analysis workflows, metadata harvesting, lineage computation, and operational stability.
• Build shared backend infrastructure, including service frameworks, job execution layers, scheduling, and platform abstractions.
• Develop workload orchestration, lifecycle management, retries, fault handling, resource optimization, and platform-wide reliability improvements.
• Improve scalability, performance, and observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and troubleshooting tools.
• Partner with DevOps and Cloud teams to deploy and manage services in Kubernetes-based and enterprise environments.
• Contribute to architecture, clean design, code reviews, security, isolation, compliance, and predictable operations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend or platform engineering experience, with demonstrated impact at Staff level.
• Strong expertise in scalable backend infrastructure, runtime systems, or distributed service platforms.
• Excellent programming skills in C# (.NET) and Java, with modern backend engineering practices.
• Experience designing shared services for orchestration, execution pipelines, or platform-level abstractions.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ArangoDB, or similar.
• Familiarity with messaging, caching, and coordination systems such as Kafka and Redis.
• Experience operating containerized services and supporting Kubernetes-based deployments.
• Strong understanding of production reliability, fault tolerance, observability, and operational best practices.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and product teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow engines, distributed job execution systems, or large-scale runtime platforms.
• Experience supporting hybrid SaaS and enterprise/on-premise deployments.
• Performance optimization experience for metadata-heavy or graph-based workloads.
• Knowledge of search and index infrastructure such as Elasticsearch or Solr, or ingestion pipelines.
• Exposure to enterprise compliance, security constraints, and deployment complexity.
