Senior Python Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid from the Budapest, Hungary office.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, test, deploy, and support Python backend services, REST APIs, and asynchronous or batch workflows.
• Integrate computer vision, NLP, LLM, and AI automation capabilities, including validation, preprocessing, inference, and structured output handling.
• Build data and integration pipelines connecting images, documents, text, databases, model services, and enterprise applications.
• Implement model interfaces, evaluation workflows, production-readiness requirements, and automated unit, integration, API, and regression tests.
• Improve deployment reproducibility, reliability, performance, observability, latency, throughput, memory use, and processing cost.
• Investigate production incidents, contribute to technical design and secure development, document solutions, review code, and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on development and support of Python backend applications.
• Strong Python fundamentals, including object-oriented design, asynchronous programming, data structures, and maintainable software design.
• Experience designing REST APIs and using a Python backend framework such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, data transformation, validation, and integration workflows.
• Practical experience integrating ML models into production applications in at least one area such as computer vision, NLP, or LLM applications.
• Understanding of inference workflows, preprocessing, postprocessing, and the effects of data, model, and configuration changes on application behavior.
• Experience writing automated tests with tools such as pytest, diagnosing production issues, and improving application performance.
• Working experience with Git, Docker, Linux, CI/CD, and cloud application deployment.
• Understanding of API security, authentication and authorization, logging, monitoring, and reliable error handling.
• Ability to work independently, explain technical trade-offs, and communicate clearly in English across locations and disciplines.

Nice to have

• Experience with computer vision, OCR, document or image-processing pipelines, or OpenCV.
• Experience with NLP and LLM applications, including information extraction, text classification, embeddings, or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, or other ML frameworks and inference tooling.
• Experience with semantic search, vector databases, RAG, or knowledge graph integration.
• Experience with model serving, MLOps, evaluation automation, model versioning, or production model monitoring.
• Experience integrating enterprise platforms, including .NET-based applications, or working in supply chain, procurement, or electronic component distribution.
