Senior Software Engineer (Go/Kubernetes)

Location: Remote-first opportunity for candidates residing in Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Ukraine. Travel to Vilnius is required for onboarding; travel costs are covered.

Salary: €6,500–€9,000 gross per month, depending on experience, plus separate compensation for on-call participation.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services in Go supporting authentication, authorization, billing, audit trails, notifications, feature flags, cloud pricing, and savings reporting.
• Own features end-to-end from design and implementation through testing and production rollout.
• Debug complex production issues involving security-, money-, and trust-critical flows.
• Optimize high-load systems, databases, queries, and time-series data processing for accurate and fast reporting.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on problems without textbook solutions and contribute to product direction and backlog.
• Participate in on-call rotation for teams that require it.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean abstractions, maintainable code, and the ability to justify architecture choices.
• Strong production experience with Go, or strong systems programming experience in a comparable language.
• Experience building or operating trust-critical systems at scale, such as authentication, authorization, billing, or financial and accounting-adjacent systems.
• Good understanding of API design, including versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, idempotency, and asynchronous patterns.
• Strong debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills, including query profiling, index design, and database performance tuning beyond ORM usage.
• Experience operating and optimizing systems under high load and identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including pods, services, deployments, and deploying or debugging workloads on a cluster.
• Experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows.
• Personal experience driving a complex project end-to-end.
• Strong English skills, both verbal and written, and a startup mindset with adaptability, proactivity, and comfort with ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Multi-tenant identity system design, including authentication, authorization, and SSO.
• Enterprise identity protocols such as SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Production experience with billing, audit-trail, notification, or feature-flag systems.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud pricing and billing APIs, or Spot instance availability tracking.
• Experience with high-cardinality time-series ingestion and querying at scale.
• Understanding of Kubernetes internals.
• CI/CD, DevOps, and production observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
