Backend Engineer (Go/Node.js)

Location: Hungary; hybrid work.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain microservices and APIs for usage metering, billing, invoicing, and analytics at scale.
• Build AI Cost Management capabilities for tracking, attributing, and controlling LLM token usage and spend, including budgets and usage limits.
• Architect real-time backend systems processing millions of events per second.
• Define system requirements with Product and Engineering and deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Optimize database performance and maintain data integrity, reliability, and security across distributed systems.
• Integrate third-party services such as Stripe and CRMs, support production services through monitoring, troubleshooting, on-call rotation, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and automated testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Go and Node.js.
• Proven experience building scalable backend services and delivering and maintaining production systems at scale.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and database optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Exposure to big data systems such as ClickHouse, streaming platforms such as Kafka, and event-driven architectures.
• Contributions to open source projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with LLM APIs, token-based pricing, or AI gateway and observability tooling.
• Experience working on developer-focused products.
