Financial Controller (DE)

What you will do

• Lead month-end and year-end close for all German legal entities and prepare accurate IFRS and Group-compliant financial statements.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue schedules, and period-end controls.
• Own inventory valuation and accounting, including cycle counts, costing, and reserves, and manage the Fixed Asset Register, depreciation, audits, and impairment reviews.
• Guide the Accounting Service Centre on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable workflows and resolve process bottlenecks.
• Prepare weekly cash flow reporting, review monthly variances with FP&A, and support forecasting and operational planning.
• Lead the German statutory audit, advise on complex commercial transactions, identify financial risks, and improve controls through Oracle workflow automation.

Requirements

• Extensive progressive accounting experience, ideally beginning in a major audit practice and progressing within a multinational corporate environment.
• Deep practical knowledge of IFRS, local statutory standards, and balance sheet control.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex modelling, lookup formulas, and pivot analysis.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems, ideally Oracle Fusion.
• Ability to explain technical accounting matters clearly to non-finance teams and build collaborative relationships across functions.
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented approach, with confidence to challenge figures constructively.

Nice to have

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA, together with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional fluency in German.
• Experience leading finance transformation or automation projects within an international business.
