Staff Platform Engineer (Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services)

Location: Fully remote; candidates must reside in Alabama, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia. Occasional travel to client sites or company meetings may be required.

Salary range: $120,588–$195,955; hiring range: $120,588–$170,000. The position is also eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of an enterprise platform supporting software delivery across a federal customer ecosystem.
• Build scalable cloud infrastructure, shared platform services, reusable engineering capabilities, and self-service patterns.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, deployment automation, secure provisioning, and release controls across multiple teams.
• Implement observability with logging, monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and operational metrics using Datadog.
• Integrate security, compliance, and DevSecOps practices while improving developer experience and platform adoption.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, align stakeholders, manage risks, and troubleshoot platform reliability and scalability challenges.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or related technical roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 4 additional years of relevant professional experience instead of a degree.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Experience standardizing observability, environment consistency, and release controls across multiple applications.
• Extensive experience designing and supporting cloud-native platforms and shared engineering services.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, platform automation, infrastructure automation, delivery pipelines, environment design, and secure provisioning for mission-critical systems.
• Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience implementing enterprise observability, monitoring, and logging with tools such as Datadog.
• Experience integrating GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and Databricks.
• Experience designing and evolving internal platforms that improve delivery speed, deployment safety, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Experience building self-service platform capabilities and reusable engineering patterns to reduce operational toil.
• Hands-on platform leadership experience setting standards, driving adoption, preventing fragmentation, mentoring teams, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
