Platform Delivery & Reliability Engineer (Remote) - 29337

Location: Remote or hybrid in the United States. The role is fully remote unless located near an office in Colorado Springs, CO; Columbia, MD; San Antonio, TX; Boise, ID; Greenville, SC; or Augusta, GA, where a hybrid schedule applies. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Salary: $119,574–$235,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan, coordinate, and execute deployments and upgrades of a data lakehouse platform across approximately 50 production Kubernetes clusters.
• Debug infrastructure, Kubernetes, platform, data, and application issues across the full stack and drive incidents to root cause.
• Contribute patches, configuration changes, automation, deployment tooling, monitoring, alerting, and reliability improvements.
• Catalog field issues, maintain failure-mode documentation and runbooks, and coordinate resolution with Infrastructure, Ingest, Query, Application, Testing, security, government program, and site teams.
• Design and institutionalize release checklists, readiness reviews, escalation paths, and cross-team communication processes that make deployments faster and more repeatable.
• Mentor engineers on debugging, deployment, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance are required; clearance is not required on the first day.
• 9 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field, 7 years with a master's degree in a related field, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Deep hands-on experience deploying, operating, and debugging production Kubernetes clusters and their ecosystems, including networking, storage, service meshes, observability, and volume management.
• Experience delivering complex distributed systems into production across multiple environments or sites and landing platforms with customers.
• Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills across Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, containers, and application services.
• Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform and modern cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI and proficiency in Go, Python, Bash, or comparable scripting/programming.
• Working knowledge of SRE practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident management, blameless postmortems, and runbook development.
• Demonstrated experience creating or improving engineering and delivery processes adopted by other teams, plus excellent written and verbal communication and cross-organizational coordination skills.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying or operating large-scale data platforms and lakehouse technologies such as Spark, Trino/Presto, Kafka, NiFi, object storage, Iceberg, Delta, or Hudi.
• Experience delivering into DoD, IC, or other federal environments, including STIG-hardened, disconnected, or air-gapped deployments, and familiarity with RMF/ATO processes.
• Experience developing Kubernetes Operators or Controllers.
• Prior release management, delivery lead, field engineering, or deployment engineering experience on a multi-team program.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites such as YouTrack, GitLab, or Nexus.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certifications, where required by the customer.
