Platform Delivery & Reliability Engineer (Remote) (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the United States, or hybrid near offices in Columbia, MD; San Antonio, TX; Boise, ID; Greenville, SC; or Augusta, GA. U.S. Citizenship is required, and a U.S. Government Security Clearance must be obtained and maintained.

Salary: $119,574–$235,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan, coordinate, and execute data lakehouse platform deployments and upgrades across approximately 50 production Kubernetes clusters.
• Debug infrastructure, Kubernetes, platform, data, and application issues through root-cause resolution.
• Contribute code patches, configuration changes, deployment automation, monitoring, alerting, and reliability improvements.
• Catalog field issues, maintain failure-mode documentation and runbooks, and coordinate fixes with Infrastructure, Ingest, Query, Application, Testing, security, government, and site teams.
• Design and institutionalize release checklists, readiness reviews, escalation paths, and cross-team communication practices.
• Mentor engineers on debugging, deployment, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
• At least 9 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 7 years with a master's degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and debugging production Kubernetes clusters, including networking, storage, service meshes, observability, and volume management.
• Experience delivering distributed systems across multiple customer environments, troubleshooting Linux, hosts, networks, security, containers, and application services.
• Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI.
• Programming or scripting proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash, plus practical SRE experience with monitoring, incident management, postmortems, and runbooks.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale data platforms and lakehouse technologies such as Spark, Trino/Presto, Kafka, NiFi, object storage, Iceberg, Delta, or Hudi.
• Experience with DoD, IC, or federal environments, including STIG-hardened, disconnected, or air-gapped deployments and RMF/ATO processes.
• Kubernetes Operators or Controllers development experience.
• Release management, delivery lead, field engineering, or deployment engineering experience on multi-team programs.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certifications may be required by the customer.
