Platform Engineer (Cloud/AWS)

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States; hybrid work with an average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office.

Salary: $119,574.00–$165,000.00 per year.

What you will do

• Enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing code bases as a systems integrator.
• Define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure as code and modern cloud tools.
• Design and implement core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex big data and cloud problems.
• Work autonomously to identify and troubleshoot complex issues while pursuing broader architectural goals.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required; clearance is not required on day one.
• 9+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree, or 7 years of relevant experience with a related master's degree, or 13 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor Kubernetes distribution.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, with proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving, complex troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with an average of 2 days per week in the San Antonio office and adapt to schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other big data systems such as Cloudera Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, or virtualization platforms such as oVirt, Proxmox, or VMware.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
