Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, United States; average of 2 days per week in the San Antonio office.

Salary: $97,097.00–$135,000.00 annually.

What you will do

• Enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing codebases as a systems integrator.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Design and implement core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex big data and cloud problems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex issues autonomously while working toward strategic goals set by team architects.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; clearance is not required on day one.
• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development with a related bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor distribution of Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, with proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving, complex troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, averaging 2 days per week at the San Antonio office, with flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other big data systems such as Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, or virtualization platforms such as oVirt, Proxmox, or VMware.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
