Software Testing Principal (MUMPS)

Location: 100% U.S.-based remote position; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

What you will do

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, scripts, procedures, test data, and environments for MUMPS/InterSystems Cache healthcare applications.
• Perform manual and automated functional, integration, regression, system, end-to-end, and UAT testing.
• Validate software enhancements, releases, defect fixes, upgrades, databases, data integrity, and healthcare workflows.
• Test VistA, FileMan, HL7, FHIR, EDI, and external healthcare-system integrations, including Beta/IOC testing.
• Analyze defects, integration failures, logs, and production incidents; support root-cause analysis and verify fixes.
• Lead testing strategies, metrics, status reporting, process improvements, and collaboration with developers, analysts, product owners, business users, and customers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or system validation experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
• Experience in healthcare, government, or other highly regulated environments, including enterprise clinical, benefits, or healthcare operations applications and long-lived mission-critical systems.
• Experience testing MUMPS and/or InterSystems Cache applications, VistA environments, and FileMan database functionality.
• Experience creating detailed test plans, scenarios, scripts, and cases and performing functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing.
• Knowledge of SDLC, testing methodologies, healthcare workflows, EHR systems, healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements, and interoperability standards including HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA EDI transactions.
• Experience validating EDI healthcare transactions, including 278 Prior Authorizations and 275 Attachments, as well as interfaces, integrations, database updates, and data integrity.
• Experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, and TestRail, plus creating testing metrics, dashboards, and status reports.
• Strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to work with business users and customers.
• Ability to lead testing efforts, mentor junior testers, and support production troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• U.S. citizenship is required; must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the applicable government and background investigations.

Nice to have

• Deep EDIFECS experience with X12 transactions, including 837, 834, 835, 277, 270/271, 278/275, and 999.
• Advanced ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or similar testing certification.
• Test automation, SQL/database validation, cloud-hosted healthcare application, DevOps, and CI/CD experience.
• Experience supporting legacy-system modernization initiatives and federal healthcare programs and regulations.
