Software Test Engineer (Cloud/AI)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States; hybrid format with 2 days per week onsite.

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 annually.

What you will do

• Prioritize and complete software testing tasks as an individual contributor.
• Develop test scenarios and procedures for scalable, reliable, and performant enterprise and informatics systems supporting cancer trials and research.
• Write automated tests, integrate them with CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshoot issues with engineering teams.
• Participate in Scrum planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, and cross-functional Agile delivery of Jira features.
• Contribute technical knowledge-base articles and improve software test engineering practices.
• Shadow senior team members during interviews and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software testing experience in one or more programming languages.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience coding in Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript, Ruby, or comparable programming languages.
• Experience testing hardware and software for enterprise and informatics systems running in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Experience defining quality characteristics, quality metrics, and scoring parameters.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment using Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with behavior-driven development testing using Cucumber, Behave, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with performance and load testing using K6, LoadRunner, JMeter, or Artillery.
• Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility testing.

Nice to have

• AI-assisted engineering experience with GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, including reviewing AI-generated code.
• Four years of software testing experience in one or more programming languages.
• ISTQB Foundation and/or Agile testing certification.
• Cloud certification in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
