Automated Test Engineer, Manager (Playwright)

Location: Remote within the United States; must support EST hours. Candidate must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work in the U.S.

Salary: $108,476–$184,409 per year.

What you will do

• Manage and mentor the Automated Test Team, strengthen coverage, identify risks and dependencies, and provide strategic testing direction.
• Extend and maintain the Playwright/Cucumber framework using the Page Object Model and reusable TypeScript or JavaScript components.
• Design and maintain functional, integration, regression, API, performance, accessibility, security, and data-validation tests across application workflows and supporting services.
• Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines, publish actionable results, troubleshoot unreliable tests, and support release quality gates.
• Validate data ingestion, transformations, migrations, environment readiness, configuration consistency, integrations, and promotion through release gates.
• Translate requirements into traceable test scenarios, support user acceptance testing, report coverage and release risks, and collaborate with developers, data engineers, business analysts, product owners, and users.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites, preferably with Playwright and TypeScript, including Page Object Model components, dynamic-UI selector strategies, and failure diagnosis.
• 5+ years of experience writing, debugging, and reviewing test automation code in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience writing Gherkin feature files and reusable step definitions with Cucumber or a comparable BDD framework.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, managing test code through version control and peer review, and deriving functional, integration, and regression tests from requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Experience documenting defects, verifying fixes, validating data-driven application behavior, and using test evidence to assess release readiness within an Agile delivery team.
• U.S. citizenship is required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S., perform all work in the U.S., and be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust or equivalent client-required background investigation.
• Must have lived in the U.S. for three full years out of the last five years.
• Ability to communicate defects, test results, and release risks clearly; organize concurrent workstreams; identify blockers; prioritize automation; investigate failures; and collaborate through resolution.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of experience acting as a Test Team Lead.
• Experience establishing test architecture for a new or modernized application.
• Experience testing Azure applications or data workflows involving Databricks, with familiarity with Python or SQL for data validation.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Scaled Agile Framework.
• Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility testing, including automated checks and manual evaluation.
• Experience validating AI-enabled search, document processing, or natural language workflows against defined evaluation criteria.
• Experience supporting federal modernization programs and producing test evidence for governance, acceptance, or compliance reviews.
