Vice President, Enterprise Data Architecture (AI)

Location: Hybrid, requiring in-office presence one day per week at a Bain home office in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, or Washington, DC, United States.

Annual full-time salary: $225,750–$282,250, plus discretionary performance bonus and other discretionary compensation.

What you will do

• Set the vision, multi-year roadmap, target-state architecture, principles, standards, and investment priorities for enterprise data platforms and capabilities.
• Lead major architecture and platform decisions, balancing speed, cost, risk, scalability, security, governance, and long-term flexibility.
• Guide internal engineering teams and external delivery partners on complex architecture questions and reference architectures.
• Partner with governance, security, privacy, legal, business, and technology leaders to establish trusted data foundations and drive adoption across functions and regions.
• Own the Data Modeling Center of Excellence, including enterprise standards for data modeling, ontology, semantic layers, structured and unstructured data, and reusable data products.
• Lead the data architecture organization, develop senior leaders and succession, manage strategic technology relationships, and promote responsible AI experimentation.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture and engineering, including architecture strategy for complex, large-scale data environments across multiple business domains and platforms.
• Experience defining and delivering multi-year enterprise architecture roadmaps and scalable, secure, governed data platforms using modern cloud technologies, with demonstrated business impact.
• Deep experience in data modeling and related architecture disciplines across complex data domains, including analytics and AI workloads on structured and unstructured data.
• Experience leading architecture or data modeling organizations through senior leaders, developing senior technical talent and succession, directing distributed engineering teams, and managing external technology partners and vendors.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders, resolving cross-organizational trade-offs, and driving adoption of enterprise architecture standards at scale without direct authority.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise data architecture, data modeling, modern data platforms, engineering, governance, security, and AI disciplines.
• Ability to translate business strategy into an enterprise data architecture vision, roadmap, and investment priorities and communicate complex architecture choices clearly to executive, business, product, and engineering audiences.

• Experience creating reference architectures for Databricks, Glean, Palantir, and other platforms.
