Enterprise Architect – Data & Employee Systems (Databricks)

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and own end-to-end Databricks data architecture for HR, payroll, benefits, performance, and other employee data, including lakehouse structures, pipelines, and governance layers.
• Translate data privacy, retention, access-control, and industry requirements such as GDPR, SOC 2, and relevant HIPAA obligations into technical architecture and data models.
• Partner with HR, Legal, and business stakeholders to implement eligibility rules, compensation logic, organizational hierarchies, and other business logic in the data architecture.
• Define access controls, lineage tracking, and audit mechanisms using Databricks Unity Catalog or equivalent governance tools.
• Set Databricks best practices covering Delta Lake, workflows, cluster and compute management, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with data engineering, security, HR systems, and compliance teams; maintain architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and the employee data platform roadmap.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, and cluster or compute management.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-level data architecture, ideally for HR or employee data or other sensitive datasets.
• Solid understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance standards.
• Ability to translate business and legal policy into technical specifications.
• Experience with data modeling, including dimensional modeling and master data management.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud platforms.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders across HR, Legal, IT, and Compliance.

Nice to have

• Databricks certification, such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Architect.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or other HRIS platforms and integrating them into a data lakehouse.
• Background in enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
