Enterprise Architect, Data

Location: Boston, MA, United States; hybrid schedule with office work 4 days per week and remote work 1 day per week.

Base salary: USD 120,000–225,000 per year, plus potential variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop enterprise data architecture strategies, roadmaps, target-state designs, transition plans, reference architectures, standards, and reusable patterns.
• Guide data platforms, data products, analytics, semantic layers, business intelligence, API and event platforms, cloud data infrastructure, and AI-enabling data services.
• Define data modeling approaches and promote governed data products, reusable services, common semantic models, consistent integration patterns, and trusted data reuse.
• Assess architecture risks, data quality, metadata and lineage gaps, resiliency, privacy, security, technology debt, cost, and responsible AI requirements.
• Lead technology evaluations, proofs of concept, build-vs.-buy recommendations, industry research, and architecture guidance for data, analytics, and AI technologies.
• Partner with CIOs, product owners, architects, engineers, governance teams, risk partners, and senior stakeholders; facilitate reviews, workshops, decision-making, mentoring, and architecture practice development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• 10 or more years of experience in technology leadership, enterprise architecture, data architecture, solution architecture, platform architecture, analytics architecture, technology strategy, or large-scale technology transformation.
• Experience developing data architecture strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, modeling standards, data patterns, and governance materials in a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of data platforms, data products, data modeling, domain-driven design, API and event-driven integration, semantic layers, business intelligence, analytics engineering, cloud-native architecture, infrastructure as code, DevSecOps, AI platforms, and reusable platform services.
• Experience evaluating technology decisions through business value, trusted data, governance, risk, resiliency, security, cost, operational impact, responsible AI, and long-term maintainability.
• Experience working with senior technology leaders, product owners, solution architects, data engineers, analytics teams, risk, information security, infrastructure, data governance, privacy, and AI governance teams.
• Strong executive communication skills and the ability to translate complex data, analytics, and AI architecture concepts into concise, business-aligned recommendations.
• Experience with architecture governance, architecture review boards, technology standards, non-functional requirements, data governance, technical debt management, and post-implementation validation.
• Ability to influence without formal authority, build trust through expertise and collaboration, and bring structure to ambiguous problems across multiple stakeholders and initiatives.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks, modeling approaches, TOGAF, Open Group standards, DAMA/DMBOK concepts, or related architecture and data management practices.
