Team Lead, Engineering & Construction (E&C;) & Energy Ops (Insurance)

Location: Kansas City, MO; Windsor, CT; or Alpharetta, GA, US. Hybrid work requires at least three days in the office each week, with full-time onsite work available; full-time telework is not permitted.

Salary: Estimated base salary of $76,000–$114,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals, including performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, and workload allocation.
• Oversee post-underwriting processing across the Engineering & Construction portfolio, including binders, endorsements, policy issuance, renewals, cancellations, and invoicing.
• Monitor service levels, quality, productivity, and operational KPIs while removing bottlenecks and managing capacity and continuity risks.
• Partner with underwriters, business leaders, brokers, claims, compliance, finance, legal, and technology teams to support portfolio growth and customer experience.
• Maintain compliance, audit readiness, documentation quality, controls, data quality, and operational governance.
• Lead process improvement, technology enablement, AI adoption, automation, SOP governance, change management, and future-state operating model initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.
• At least 5 years of commercial insurance operations, underwriting support, or underwriting experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated success leading change and process improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coaching capabilities.

Nice to have

• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of Engineering, Construction, Specialty, or Commercial Insurance operations.
