Project Engineer I - Automation

Location: Onsite in one of the following US locations: Charlotte, NC; Lewis Center, OH; King of Prussia, PA; Alpharetta, GA; Wesley Chapel, FL; or Nashua, NH. Domestic and international travel of at least 20% is required.

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 per year; the range may vary for candidates hired at a different level.

What you will do

• Plan, design, develop, test, and commission automation projects for power systems.
• Configure communication networks, real-time controllers as RTUs, HMI and server interfaces for upstream SCADA clients, and power-system analytic software workstations.
• Develop custom control logic for automatic fault location, isolation, and system restoration.
• Support Project Managers and Salesforce with application planning and participate in customer meetings as a technical equipment expert.
• Research SEL and third-party equipment, solutions, emerging technologies, and OT network architectures and data flows.
• Lead project engineering execution from design through commissioning, including deliverables, schedules, quality reviews, factory testing, field safety preparation, and service reporting.

Requirements

• Understanding of project engineering scope in relation to labor and equipment budgets.
• Ownership of project schedules and a self-starting approach to research, with the ability to work under minimal guidance and high-level direction.
• Professional communication skills for direct technical contact with customers and colleagues.
• Experience designing control logic schemes and network configurations.
• Ability to analyze electrical one-line drawings, DC/AC schematics, and bills of materials.
• Experience with industry-standard communication protocols, including IEC-61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Experience with server/client SCADA applications and HMI application design and development suites.
• Willingness to travel at least 20% domestically and abroad.
• Applicants may be considered from Associate through Engineering III level.

Nice to have

• Experience with phase I/O-style project management and SEL product configurations.
• Experience with IEC-61131 programming and Python programming.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting IT/OT networks, including Wireshark.
• Substation safety training.
