Ruby on Rails Developer (Vue.js)

Location: 100% remote, but the role is based in the United States and open only to US citizens and permanent residents who do not require visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain Ruby on Rails features, including models, controllers, background jobs, and APIs.
• Build responsive, reusable Vue.js components and connect them to Rails through REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, write efficient queries, and diagnose slow queries and N+1 issues.
• Write automated tests, maintain high coverage, and apply test-driven development.
• Review pull requests, collaborate with product, design, QA, and client stakeholders, and deliver features in short iterations.
• Monitor and resolve production issues, improve CI/CD pipelines, upgrade dependencies, and reduce technical debt.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building web applications with Ruby on Rails.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Vue.js; Vue 3 and the Composition API are preferred.
• Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and ActiveRecord.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Practical experience with automated testing and test-driven development.
• Comfort with Git, pull-request workflows, and CI/CD tools.
• Consulting or client-facing experience, including direct work with client stakeholders on requirements.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude for development, debugging, refactoring, and test writing, with the judgment to review and verify generated code.
• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and must not require visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Versatility across languages such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, or Node.js, with the ability to learn new languages as client needs change.
