Senior Fullstack Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Remote within the United States; the role supports hirify.global's nationwide remote workforce

Salary: $120,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize full-stack applications using Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, and related technologies.
• Build, maintain, test, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs and integrations with internal, third-party, and government systems.
• Own application features and components, balancing reliability, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Investigate complex application issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable improvements.
• Create monitoring dashboards, alerts, and observability practices using Datadog or comparable platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, stakeholders, and government partners; contribute to design reviews, documentation, hiring, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 7 years of professional software engineering experience; equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, full-stack development, REST APIs, API debugging, automated testing, version control, and code reviews.
• Experience with Datadog or a comparable observability platform, including dashboards, monitors, alerting thresholds, and incident troubleshooting.
• Professional experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or GitHub Copilot.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Must successfully complete and maintain the required federal Public Trust background investigation and agency-specific suitability requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud-hosted applications.
• Experience supporting federal government programs or large-scale public-sector digital services.
• Familiarity with Agile development and multidisciplinary product teams.
