Senior Engineer (PHP/Laravel)

Location: Remote; work from anywhere or everywhere.

hirify.global provides visa, passport, and other travel-document services to travelers worldwide through internal and external web platforms.

What you will do

• Design and deliver new features and services, making technical decisions around architecture, data modeling, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead design discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and align engineering solutions across the stack.
• Conduct code reviews, pair programming, and hands-on coaching for mid-level and junior developers.
• Profile, optimize, and refactor systems to handle increasing traffic and data volumes while maintaining reliability.
• Partner with product managers and designers to define requirements and translate business goals into technical plans.
• Own platform stability and security, debug production issues, and improve tooling, testing, and deployment processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional web development experience, including significant experience with PHP and a modern framework; Laravel is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of modern PHP, including PHP 8 features, dependency injection, testing, and maintainable code.
• Hands-on experience with a modern JavaScript framework; Vue 3 and TypeScript are ideal.
• Understanding of appropriate backend/frontend boundaries.
• Ability to design database schemas, read query plans, and diagnose production performance issues.
• Practical experience with Docker, cloud services, preferably AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and mentor other developers.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to engineers and product managers.
• Self-direction, initiative, independent working ability, and effectiveness in a remote environment.
• Fluent English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes and Argo, including container orchestration and GitOps-style deployment workflows.
