Staff Business Analytics Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Sunnyvale, California headquarters, 4 days a week.

Base pay range for the San Francisco Bay Area: $166,500–$244,200 USD annually. The role may also be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity.

What you will do

• Design and build governed analytical data models and a semantic layer in Snowflake, translating Finance-approved ARR, NARR, retention, and customer lifecycle definitions into reusable, versioned logic.
• Create a machine-readable metric and context registry for consistent use across Power BI, self-service tools, and AI-driven interfaces.
• Integrate acquired businesses through entity mapping, definition reconciliation, historical restatement, and governed metric-layer implementation.
• Design AI-native analytical capabilities using Snowflake Cortex and governed semantic models for reliable natural-language and agent-based access.
• Evolve Power BI toward integrated cross-functional reporting spanning commercial activity, product performance, and financial outcomes.
• Implement reconciliation, validation, lineage, monitoring, modeling, testing, and documentation standards while driving upstream data-quality resolution.

Requirements

• 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or data architecture, including substantial hands-on ownership of production analytical models.
• Advanced SQL and deep expertise in dimensional and semantic modeling on a modern cloud data platform.
• Experience building enterprise BI and governed self-service reporting at scale.
• Experience implementing governed business metrics, reconciliation controls, and consistent analytical definitions across enterprise reporting environments.
• Ability to start from the business question, understand the decision supported by a metric, and assess the impact of incorrect definitions before designing the solution.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across teams without formal authority and converting ambiguous business requirements into architecture.
• Strong written and verbal communication with technical and finance/business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Snowflake, Power BI, and dbt experience.
• Experience with SaaS or recurring-revenue metrics such as ARR, retention, and cohorts.
• Hands-on experience with semantic layers, metric stores, or context layers for LLM or agent consumption, including Cortex Analyst, dbt Semantic Layer, Cube, or similar.
• Experience integrating acquired-company data into enterprise models.
• Familiarity with CRM, ERP, and financial planning systems as analytical sources.
