Senior Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Location: Remote work is available from countries where Cash App operates; U.S. compensation varies by market-based zone.

Salary: $185,200–$277,800 USD annually in Zone D, $196,100–$294,100 in Zone C, $207,000–$310,400 in Zone B, or $217,800–$326,800 in Zone A.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate data-platform capabilities for warehousing, orchestration, business intelligence, and governance.
• Build reliable Python services and developer-facing tools for creating and operating data products.
• Develop scalable infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Establish patterns for managing petabyte-scale data with strong governance, security, reliability, and usability.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, scientists, and product teams to develop durable platform capabilities.
• Evaluate agentic workflows, maintain controls and observability, set technical direction, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with strong Python skills and experience operating production systems.
• Hands-on experience with data platforms, data products, or large-scale data infrastructure.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or comparable modern data platforms.
• Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Understanding of performance, cost, reliability, access controls, lineage, quality, and governance for petabyte-scale data.
• Strong technical judgment, communication, cross-team leadership, and collaboration with data practitioners.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, Apache Iceberg, Apache Airflow, dbt, Prefect, Buildkite, GitOps, DataHub, Anomalo, Looker, Omni, or AWS.
